History

The original idea comes from the experience built up by Doctor Millet in treating head and other types of injuries caused by motorcycle accidents, whose consequences for those who suffer them usually last all their lives, depending on the seriousness of the accident.

Initially, a basic prototype was made based on a system with a cable attached to the motorcycle which became disconnected when the fall happened, allowing the airbag to inflate.

Then, more prototypes began to be made, patents were processed and an engineer was hired. Prototypes were also presented at the Forum of the Cultures where it was very well received as an invention recognised at international level passing all preselection tests so it could go on permanent exhibition. The product has also won awards from the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Official Organisation of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia.

But, it was in 2004 when APC Systems BCN began, with the aim of turning an innovative idea into a real project. The idea was patented, the company was provided with a structure, agreements with the best external suppliers and collaborators were sought and reached, and the final design and development work was carried out on the first Airbag Helmet with Airbag in the world, the APC.

To date, APC Systems has concentrated on researching, conceptualising, developing and testing the crash helmet, ensuring that the final result end product being offered to the final user was of the very highest quality.

Two years after the launch of the helmet APC, our great experience with this airbag technology allow us to create a new neck protection system with airbag incorporated, a NECK BRACE with electronic detection and Airbag, without any wires or mechanical components between the moto rider and the motorcycle.

This equipment that protects user’s neck and cervicals can be use with whatever helmet available on the market, full face, flip up, jet.

In the same way than with the Airbag Helmet APC, the Electronic Neck Brace APC reduce very significantly the possibility to suffer serious spin injuries.

Its reduced size (similar to the perimeter of the inferior part of the helmet and a maximum high of 5,5 cm) and a 450 gr weight convert it in an easy and light equipment than can protect and augment the comfort when running; reduce the noise and the air flows inside the helmet.
